Hello,
If you watched my August Favourites video, you may have seen that I am in LOVE with the new Katy Perry fragrance. I love it so much, that I thought I would do a full review for you all!
Here is what the Nordstrom website has to say about the fragrance:
“Purr by Katy Perry eau de parfum begins with the aroma of peach nectar and forbidden apple, evolves with a distinct floral bouquet of jasmine blossom, Bulgarian rose and vanilla orchid, and slowly reveals accents of creamy sandalwood and musk. Like the singer herself, Purr is playful yet sophisticated. Katy Perry transcends barriers with her music—so does her new fragrance.

In terms of appearance, this perfume bottle is AMAZING. I’m a huge cat fan, and this is just sooo cute! The jeweled eyes add chic-ness to the bottle. Great job Katy!

Now, I have no experience what so ever with describing fragrances to people, so I apologize for that. However, the above description makes it sound very fruity/floral, with the peach nectar, apple, jasmine blossom, rose and vanilla, but I find that the fragrance is very… deep and romantic almost. I think that you can tribute that to the musk and creamy sandalwood as listed above. It is not in the slightest bit light, refreshing or brightly scented. It is very much a warmer, dark and delicious smelling scent.
I find that the scent lasts on my skin for almost the entire day. It is a strong perfume, so I would only recommend one spritz. Anymore than two and you may be drowning the people around you. Now, I know it may come off strange to say, and I must start this statement by saying that I have very hygienically clean in every way possible, BUT I find that there are a lot more…fruit flies… around when I wear this fragrance. I don’t know if I can blame that on the fragrance, or the weather outside… or it could possibly be that I am noticing them around more… and it is not linked to the fragrance at all. I mean as far as I know, I don’t have a bunch of fruit laying around in my house, so where are they all coming from! Now having done my research as to what the scent is composed of, it would make sense that the flies would be attracted to the fruity and floral notes that make this fragrance. I know, I told you that statement was going to be weird, but it’s what I’ve noticed. However, it is strange, because the scent itself in my personal opinion doesn’t lean towards a fruitier smell, like I mentioned above, to me its a much warmer scent. This from what I can tell for me, is the only downfall, if you could even call it that, because I cannot pinpoint the source of these flies…. and it probably has nothing to do with the fragrance. But I’m probably just a bit crazy…like I said, I cannot describe a scent out to save my life.
I was lucky enough to find this perfume at Winners. I KNOW! Winners!! It was priced at $34.00 as opposed to the $45 I believe that it retails for in the store. It was the last one there so I quickly grabbed it and walked away in a fast pace, as if someone would see that I had it and try to take it away from me. I’ve only ever seen this fragrance at Sears (other than Winners). It’s not even available on the Sephora website :S. If you are in the states, I do believe that it is sold at Nordstrom as well. This perfume launched in 2010, so it should be readily available for the most part one would think.
All in all, I LOVE this perfume. Its a great one, especially for the fall/winter season coming up as it can be a more of a deep and warm fragrance. For the summer time if you prefer a lighter fragrance this is not the one for you.
Hope you all enjoyed this review, I have a couple other product reviews coming up and Shannon and I are planning some hair tutorials so keep an eye out for those!
Thanks for reading
xoxo
