Hello Everyone!

Wow, first of all, HUUUUUUGE Thank You to those who liked my last post “My Month As A Vegan”. As promised here is a recipe that I am IN LOVE with. I only have one picture 😦 I’m sorry, I totally forgot to do a step by step, but lucky for youuuu I’ve broken it down so it’s fool proof and you don’t need the pictures to guide you! PS: For future recipes I will include pictures, they’re always fun.

HERE WE GOO:1003296_10200893464812335_1004860051_n

Here’s what you’ll need:

2 Fresh corn on the cobs (or 1 can of corn)
1 Bell pepper (your choice for colour, I chose red)
1-1.5 Cups of frozen, shelled, edamame beans (I normally just eye ball it)
Cooked brown rice
Lemon juice
Olive Oil (optional)
Big bowl and spoon

Step 1:
Pull everything out and start shoving it all into a big bowl! Personally, I like to put all the ingredients into a bowl then put a plate on top so I don’t have to waste plastic wrap, that way as you’re adding the ingredients all you have to do to cover it is put the plate on! At this point, pull our your frozen edamame so it can defrost a bit.

Step 2:Rinse and cook your brown rice. Rinsing will help remove all the unwanted starch. Make as much or as little as you want! I always make like a cup, then put it in the fridge and use it during the week. Make sure to follow the ingredients!

Quick tip: putting your brown rice into the fridge (uncooked) will help it stay better longer!

Another quick tip: the easiest way to cook rice:
A) use a regular coffee mug to measure out the rice (1 full mug)
B) rinse or soak rice
C) boil some water in a kettle
D) put drained rice into pot, then put 2 mug fulls of boiled water into pot over rice, bring to boil, then lower heat and simmer until all the water is gone.
Rule of thumb: always use a 2:1 method for rice. 2 cups water (or liquid, veggie broth is nice too) to 1 cup of rice.

Step 3:
A)Put edamame in your bowl (still a bit frozen is okay).
B)Add your corn: for fresh just cut down the sides of the corn so you have the pieces, or for canned simply drain and add.
C)Cut up your bell pepper (bite sized pieces is perfect)

Step 4:
Now this step is completely up to you and your taste buds. BUT here’s what I do:
A) Squeeze in some lemon juice (not too much to the point where its watery)
B) Season with salt and pepper
C)Optional: Add a small amount of olive oil
D) Toss everything together

If you have some fresh cilantro or parsley that would be great in here too!

Step 5:
Once rice is finished cooking, spoon on some salad on top and you’re ready to eat!

SEE Now wasn’t that just the simplest!? Make sure to keep your rice and left over salad separate when storing it in the fridge! That way if you want to use the rice for something else you can! It’s perfect for lunches or dinners the next day!

Super easy. Super tasty. Vegan.

Hope you try this out! Let me know how it goes.xoxox

Hey Guys!!

Gosh, where has the time gone? It’s been so crazy for Shannon and I the last year that we’ve barely had time to post! Lots of changes for the both of us, and seeing as I’m avoiding work I thought that I would write a post and let ya’ll know who we’re doing!

Below is a picture of Shannon and some of her school friends; look at her go! Shannon is currently across the country going to school for her MASTERS in Occupational Therapy. She’s doing such great things and finds it super rewarding to be able to learn at Canada’s Number 1 University! On the non-school related side, Shann’s stepped it up HUGE. She’s going to run her first 10km marathon, she’s doing hot yoga, and has signed up for something called Dragon Boating! (…?who knows). Even though I miss her, the masters program is only two years long and I’m sure we’ll be re-united soon.

So yes, I’ve started at a new school, yet again! Below is me in a picture with my Enactus team! (If you don’t know what Enactus is and want to hear more I can do a separate post). So I’ve started school yet again in a two year condensed program which means that I am doing about 7 courses at a time. It’s been super busy, and my involvement in extracurricular activities has been taking up a lot of time, but that’s okay because I like to be busy 🙂 Life in Vancouver is great! It rains a lot, but I feel like I’m used to it by now. I’ve met a lot of amazing people and had a blast doing as much as I possibly can! Image(me working as a Mentor to a small business owner for an Enactus project)

(Can you spot me in the group picture above?)

You knew it was coming; because we always want to know what Yuki’s doing!!!!: ImageImage

ImageGod she’s cute.

Anywho, hope you guys are doing well and that maybe we can start getting posts up for you at least once a week!

Hi Lovelies!!!

Long time no post, I know. But I’m back to bring you a post that was requested by a friend of Shannon and I’s. Lately my nail polish routine has consisted of a solid colour on the nail, with a glitter tip and when our friend saw my instagram photos she was shocked I hadn’t done a tutorial. So here I am, and here you go!

Here are some instagram photos I’ve taken of previous nail combinations 🙂

Alrighty, so as you can see it’s a simple colour, with some glitter on the tips. On with the tutorial !! 😀

1. Choose your colours.

Illamasqua Phallic & Sephora by OPI Only Gold For Me

2. If necessary/wanted add base coat (I didn’t for this tutorial as it was not available).

3. Paint nails with as many coats of the base colour as needed. Phallic only required two coats. Allow to dry completely.

4. For the purpose of experimentation for this tutorial, my next step was to paint my nails with the matte top coat. When doing this at home should you choose to do so, this step is not necessary as you finish with the matte top coat at the end.

5. Apply glitter nail polish of your choice half way up the nail to start.

6. Continue by adding additional layers of the glitter polish, but towards the tip of the nail. This creates a gradient effect with less glitter towards the middle of the nail, and chunkier glitter on the tip of the nail. Allow coats to dry for a couple minutes between layers. When working with glitter, too many coats can cause the polish to go goopy, making it hard to work with. So be patient, don’t touch anything and then move on 🙂

7. This step is very important. After applying as many layers of glitter as you would like, allow your nails to dry completely. If you apply a top coat on top when the polish is still wet, it will shift the glitter which we don’t want now do we! Once dry, apply a top coat. I chose matte today, but you can choose regular if you would like! My favourite regular top coat is Seche Vite.

(You’ll notice I don’t have the glitter on my nails at this point. It’s because I chose to apply the matte top coat after painting my nails with the base colour. For tutorial purposes I wanted to show the difference between choosing a glossy top coat and a matte one)

Here’s the finished product!!!

I hope that you guys enjoyed this post, and if you try it at home let us know what you thought!!!

Hey Guys!

Today I had a good day and posted two new videos!

The first was a video on products that I use to help combat my extremely oily skin. I mention products from facewash to makeup setting tips! Check it out!

The second was actually a request that someone had left in a comment on one of my videos. Here’s a look at each lipstick that I have in my shelving unit. I have to say that I paid for all of these myself, and it is in no way a means to brag about how much I own. I honestly don’t think that one needs this much. Ha ha!

Remember to subscribe to my youtube channel for all video updates 🙂

Hey everyone!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We hope that everyone had a safe and very happy new year celebration, as well as a joyful Christmas/Holiday break. I know for SURE that Shannon and I did.

We just got home this past weekend from our trip, it was long, enjoyable and tiring. A post to come soon — I think both of us are slightly dreading the writing of that post 😛  SOOO much info, so little time I tell yah! I thought it would be fun to do some pictures for you guys so you can see where we went, as well as an accompanying post about the trip and everything that we did. I also thought that it would be fun to talk about the cruise itself, as we have now been on two and can kind of compare.

BTW: our trip in a nutshell went something like this: Vancouver, Seattle, Chicago, Miami, The Grande Cayman Islands, Jamaica (for a brief couple of hours, more on that in our vacation blog), Labadee- Haiti, Miami, Florida – Islands of Adventure and Disney World, Phoenix, Seattle, home. Places like Chicago, Miami, Vancouver and Seattle were connecting points to our final destination of the cruise (which left from Miami), Florida or home.

Needless to say, I think that Shannon and I both suffered from jet lag as we were living three hours ahead for almost two weeks. Jet lag + no sleep = tired, cranky family. I think that I just finished catching up on my sleep to be honest. Alright, enough, if you want to hear all about our trip then a post is on its way soon! For those of you who can’t wait, here are a couple photos:

The most beautiful water.

Shannon and I with the cruise directors during Disco night. Looking very sweaty after just dancing 😛

Yup... that's me....it went something like this "oh you want a photo" then SSWOOSH next thing I know I'm in the air and there is someone trying to eat my foot.

On to what the real post is about: 2012 Resolutions!! Hopefully I am able to get all these accomplished throughout the year, that is if we make it that far. Do any of you readers out there believe in the world ending in December? Let us know in the comments below! Here are 5 of mine (I think 5 is reasonable, don’t you?):

1. Read at least 3 books a month. — I have found this website, goodreads.com and it’s amazing! You can add books to your “to read” list, your “read” list, and your “currently reading” list, read online reviews, browse books etc etc! I could spend all day on that site searching for books that I want to read this year. Definitely check it out. I recently read The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks, and FELL IN LOVE! (Mostly because it’s a movie coming out and Zac Efron is the main character… mmmmm he is soooo good looking <3) I like reading books that are movies or soon to be because it gives me an image of someone to link the characters to and that’s my favourite way of reading! Its a good read, I read it in one day… (my eyes were cross eyed afterwards cause I didn’t give them a break – not encouraged. Please take reading breaks) it was my kind of book, and Zac Efron is my kind of man. If you have any books that you could recommend for me that would be amazing!! 3 books a month, for 12 months is gonna be CRAZY, so if you want to see a book review, or have a favourite please let me know. Some books I’ve loved in the past: Something Borrowed, The Lucky One (mentioned above), The Lauren Conrad series (….yess…. it’s true, I couldn’t put them down), and Ellen Degeneres’ new book, just to give you an idea of the kinds of books that grab my attention.

2. Take more action. — Do you ever think, well I should have done that… or I wish I could be more outgoing and forward ?? I openly admit that I wish that I was more outgoing and spoke my mind a little bit more. Well this is the year folks! I’m going to take more action and go for things that I want. I’m not talking being obnoxious and rude to get to the places in life that I want to be, but things like correcting the waitress who brought me the wrong food (don’t you hate having to complain?), taking chances to get to the places I want to be, even if they are perhaps a bit unconventional (ie: school in Vancouver in September), or taking action to make sure that I am not in positions to which I do not want to be (Ie: learn to say yes and no at the appropriate times). I don’t want to be sitting around this year thinking wishing that I had taken more action.

3. Save, save, save. — I have a car that is dying, a Vegas trip in April in the works, and a nasty habit for spending my pay cheques. AND on top of that, I desperately want to be in lower mainland for school in September, which will also require me to have saved some money as it’s kind of expensive living wise down there. This year, I control my spending habits and SAVE!

4. Workout — Okay, I know this one is something that everyone puts as a new years resolution, but I only include it because I want to CONTINUE to workout and be in great shape. Shannon and I worked very hard last year in preparation for our Caribbean Christmas and I don’t want all that work to go down the drain. I will make it a point to maintain my workouts this year, because I am so proud of how far I have come. This includes maintaining a clean diet as well. The only thing that I dread about this new years resolution is the fact that it’s the same for everyone. Meaning that for the new two weeks (:P okay, I should have more faith in people, three) the gym is going to be crazy packed. I MUST find a happy medium time when there aren’t many people there…. MUST!!

5. Blog and make videos more!! — Sometimes I’m not too sure how people do it, but this year I promise to make the time to blog and record videos consistently. More beauty videos, cooking blogs, and you will definitely be seeing book reviews of each and every book that I read.

Well, that sums up 5 of my new years resolutions, I am sure that I have more, but honestly these ones are the most important, and I feel that they are all attainable. No use in making resolutions I know I will be unable to keep.

I also just wanted to give a quick shout out of those of you who read and follow our blog! The internet is such a big environment that Shannon and I are so thankful that you take the time to read what we have to say. Any suggestions or requests would be greatly appreciated. Also, please feel free to comment and let us know what you think! We always get soooo excited to see comments, cause it means that people are actually reading what we are saying, which never fails to make us sooo excited 🙂 🙂 🙂 Again, thank you so much!!!!!

Let us know in the comments below what your new years resolutions are! 🙂 ps: Sorry for the long-ish post.

Hi Everyone,

I am currently in my university library waiting for Shannon to get out of class so that we can go and hit up the mall and do some Christmas shopping, what a perfect time to avoid homework and write a post! 🙂

As many of you may or may not of heard (I know I sure did), there is a new Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 that was just released today. I do not have it, and cannot purchase it off the Urban Decay website because sadly they do not ship to Canada 😦 But after reading some posts on blogs and such, I thought that I would share my thoughts on the palette with you all based on the research and pictures I have seen.

Now, it seems as though, that Naked2 is a lot warmer (or at least that’s what they claim on the website). It has four matte shades, the rest shimmery/glittery. Compared to the original, which had more golden-y shades, the Naked2 palette seems to have warmer, taupe-ier shades. To me, it doesn’t seem to have any more matte shades than the original, (even though it has one more) because the additional matte shade in number 2 is the matte black. I would prefer to have more matte brownish shades rather than the black be matte, but thats just me personally. From swatches that I have seen on multiple blogs, and Temptalia’s in particular (she has an amazing blog: click here for her review on the Naked2 palette: http://www.temptalia.com/urban-decay-naked-1-vs-naked-2-palette-dupes-comparison-swatches)(Xsparkage is mentioned in the bottom of this post if you would like to see her blog too!) the colours are VERY similar to the original.  It comes to with a dual ended eyeshadow brush, which would be a great deal, comes with a blending side and a shader brush side, and a lipgloss rather than the primer potion. I bought the original when it came with the dual ended eyeliner and I have to say that I liked the idea of the eyeliner and primer potion more. It completes the palette in my opinion. I’ve never tried an Urban Decay lipgloss so I cannot talk about that product in particular.

Now, all that being said, if you do not have the original then I think that this palette is awesome, it has some great neutrals and has a nice selection of colours. I like shimmery eye shadows on a good day, and the matte ones are nice too. The quality and pigmentation of Urban Decay eye shadows are amazing, and they have great staying power, especially if you use a primer underneath. The lipgloss is a nice neutral shade, and I see it matching a lot of skin tones.

Overall, in my opinion it seems that there is a lot of hype over this product, but I am not too sure it is necessary if you already own the original. The colours are too similar to justify having both, because lets just be honest you can only have so many neutral brown shades. I think that Urban Decay would have done better with a neutral palette that was different compared to the warm one that was the original. Perhaps they could have included cooler shades to compliment the original’s warm/goldeny shades! That being said, I’m sure that avid Urban Decay lovers, as well as makeup junkies will be all over this palette, but fear not! Just like its sister, it’s permanent so you don’t have to worry if you cannot get your hands on it right away 🙂

They are only available on the Urban Decay website at this point, and I am not too sure when other stores like Sephora will be carrying it. It goes for $50.00 which is a total steal for a palette of this quality though! XSparkage did an amazing review, you guys can check it out for swatches and for a  more in depth review 🙂 http://www.xsparkage.com/?p=4113 (link is from her website)

Let me know what you think of the palette in the comments below, are you going to try and get your hands on one of these bad boys?!

Caitlin ❤
